Elk Hunt 2011 Video

The past several nights Patrick and I have been working on the 2011 Elk hunt video. In the past few years, I have really enjoyed editing videos together with Patrick. Its fun to cut the footage down to the "essentials", pick music, add titles and laugh as we put it all together. I learn so much about the imovie program in the process. My favorite recent video project with him was doing the Penguk video from an archaeology dig 2 summers ago...you really get the essence of a trip from looking at all the footage.

Enjoy! And this video is not for the faint of heart or any vegans~there are pictures of a dead elk and elk meat. Just wanted to give everyone advance warning. It is serious Kodiak subsistence living at its best.

The video gives a whole new perspective that you just can't grasp living in the lower 48 from still photos. I would literally sell my sewing machine (my most prized antique singer) just for an opportunity to go on a hunt like that. What a great, amazing, adventure your everyday life is there in Alaska!

Jowers Inc, Thank you for the 'Alaska Praise' - we really do live in an awesome place, and we do appreciate what we got. But it is still nice to hear someone else from 'outside' say it too. Too often we only hear how it is too cold and dark in Alaska. Anyway, it certainly is nice to live in a place where it is fairly easy to take care of your families protein needs without going to Safeway (ie harvest fish and game). Not many places like this left in the USA. Patrick
