Relaxing
Relaxing
This morning we awoke with Patrick’s sister, Polly, and her family having arrived here last night! We are looking forward to spending the week and thanksgiving with them.
Yesterday after swimming, we took the kids out for ice cream. We went to a small ice cream shop that just happened to have a gentleman playing guitar. It was very quiet for a Sunday afternoon and he took requests from everyone in the shop. Once he heard we were from Alaska, he played North to Alaska as well as another Alaska song. The kids took their time eating ice cream as we listened to music. It was a fun Sunday afternoon surprise.
Stuey and Nora have spent lots of time playing in the sand with dump trucks, as well as drawing, and painting. After our (very short) walk in the desert yesterday, they came home and drew pictures of cactus’, mountains and family. Fun to see them draw it all out and learn how to draw new things like cactus’!
There is a Dunkin’ Donuts down the road that has WIFI, so this morning we had breakfast there and Patrick checked all of his sports scores. Dunkin’ Donuts is one of my more favorite establishments and there isn’t one in Alaska. It was a fun treat to enjoy an iced coffee there.
Things are slow, relaxed and warm… a perfect getaway.
