What a glorious day! Blue sky above and the temperature finally dipped below freezing. After work I even had a choice when it came to time to go for a ski. I could go up high and catch the powder on downhill skiis or I could cruise the crust in the lowlands on skate skiis. I opted for the skate skiis.
Needless to say, but there was no powder snow down low. It was very crusty and fast. I felt like I was at some sort of freestyle-skate-ski terrain park. I ripped all about, barely avoiding alders, deep gulches, and patches of open water on the small beaver ponds. I had a couple 'whoa' moments when I had to do a controlled wipeout to avoid a serious crack up. All and All I had a great time. Patrick
